Brazil's GENOCÍDIO Are Back In Business

May 24, 2006

Brazilian metallers GENOCÍDIO, one of the greatest acts of the local metal scene in the '90s, is back featuring a lineup which mixes old members (Murillo Leite [guitars and vocals] and W. Perna [bass]) with brand-new musicians (Dennis Decurion [guitars, ex-ARE YOU GOD?) and Fábio Moyses [drums, ex-MASTIFF]).

The tragic accident which happened to W. Perna at the Galeria do Rock in São Paulo (SP),in which the musician had part of his right-hand thumb cut off forced the band to stop its activities. "We are aware that Perna isn't still 100% and it will take some time further, but we do believe in his willpower," said Murillo Leite in a statement. "We're providing him the widespread support and we hope the band's fans understand, as do we."

GENOCÍDIO have been rehearsing a setlist consisting of selections from what many people consider to be the band's most creative period — prior to the 1996 album "Posthumous". The group intend to begin playing out again later in the year, with tentative plans to record a new studio album for a 2007 release.
